The lack of a road safety culture on GCC roads is a major challenge for the region
A senior official of an international road transport association has commented upon road safety in the GCC region. Reversing the lack of road safety culture in the Gulf region is the biggest challenge that GCC governments face in their efforts to make roads safer to drive on, according to Rita Cuypers, the Director of Campaigns and Events at the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). "There seems to be a lack of road safety culture in the GCC countries, which are considered to be dangerous to drive on", she added. Simon Labbett, the Regional Director for the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) UAE, says "Sustained casualty reduction on the roads is not and never will be a quick fix. Countries with the best safety records in the world have achieved this through decades of road improvement and government marketing campaigns."

New Sounder range from Vimpex
Electronic Sounder manufacturer, Vimpex has launched of a new range of sounders called the Banshee Excel.

New UAE Fire Code announced at first Fire Safety Forum
The UAE held its first forum for fire safety technology recently at the Yas hotel in Abu Dhabi and the Civil Defence Department took the opportunity to formerly announce the UAE's new Fire Code.
The forum was organised by Civil Defence GHQ in cooperation with International Centre of Quality & Productivity in the Middle East. More than one hundred fifty experts and guests from local, regional and international regions participated.
